Building a Team

After an amazing week at The Business Planning Summit, for those of us that attended we can all agree that working in the business owner space is going to take a team of people.

Here are the key takeaways:

  1. You have to be dedicated to your team. This means you can’t put the focus of your craft ahead of the team. You can’t zoom in and make a quick sale and cheat the planning process. Everyone loses in the end, and you will not have a team
  2. You have to have your team trained in how to work together. This is the part where experts in certain field do not want to admit they have weaknesses. This can be the hardest part of creating a dynamic sales team.
  3. Teams have to want to be a team. Being part of a team is special and selfless. If you are focused on what you do, you cheat your team and the client.
  4. Patience. You will have to be patient when building your team. It takes time to find the right people. Great people are going to be skeptical. Our planning process is like nothing most people have ever seen before. It’s going to take some time to get the right people in place. Be patient. It will pay off in the end.
  5. Do be a thief! Do not steal clients and business from other people because you see dollar signs or do not agree on the recommendations. Talk through it, and do not be a thief. You will lose your team and ultimately your money. A quick buck with cost you everything.

Championship teams are never selfish. They work together for the greater good. They are locked in on what they are doing, and they never compromise. Do you part and lose the selfishness. You can still be a star on a team. It is hard to be a star alone.

If you are interested in being part of a great team, then send me a message. We are changing the industry, and I will show you why.
